MFT208

Hi Friends, I'm back with a card to share now that Christmas is over and I can find my way to my craft room again! I wanted to make a New Year's card so I found this week's MFT Wednesday Stamp challenge 208 to help me get it done. Most of my supplies are Simon Says Stamp products or can be ordered from there. The Happy New Year sentiment is MFT, though.

I tried the Camouflaging Die Cut technique with a lot of trouble. I believe it's meant to be done with a word die instead of individual dies like my numbers here. The main problem I had was with the glue. I'm not good with liquid adhesive, it's so hard for me not get it all over everything, even with Matte medium adhesive. Also, the pressure from the Big Shot took some of the glitter off the glitter paper. In the Papertrey Ink video, distress ink was used. I thought it may work just as well using paper for the layering of the die cut but it didn't. BUT, I took a chance and learned so that's what's important! :)

SIMON Village die card

Hi Friends, man my blog has been quiet! I've been preparing for the holidays and just relaxing before the big day! For some reason I haven't felt like card making but I'm looking forward to my work shutdown. I'll be off for over a week and I'm hoping to get some crafting time in. Yippie!

This card is loosely based on Nicole McGuirk's card on YouTube that she made for Simon Says Stamp. I made mine a little more simple but what's similar is the Distress ink sponged houses and the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border die. She also sponged her background but I just used aqua paper and the SSS snow stencil and Texture paste.
The sentiment is Simon says stamp "Be Joyful"and is heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I forgot to use my embossing buddy before I embossed. (Don't look! hahaha)

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday!
Hugs, Kim

KK FB Swap

o

Hi Friends, Today's card is made with my swap partner, Danielle of D's Crafty Connections,  in mind. Christene Riley organized a Christmas card swap on Facebook using Kraftin Kimmie Stamps. And we must mail it to our swap partner, how fun!!! I went to my KK stamp box and found that I had never inked this one up. Her name is Christmas Clara and I paired her with some cute Nutcracker Suite paper from Graphic 45.

The nutcracker paper is adorable and I'm thrilled to use it with sweet Clara.
The card is 5.5" square so I could have lots of real estate to properly showcase her big skirt and add a Prima Poinsettia.

As you can see below, I added some glossy accents to the cute nutcracker to make him stand out. I colored her with Copics and layered the card with several different papers from the collection. (I did add some shading around her feet after I photographed this.

It's been a while since I did a swap so this was fun! I mailed this on Dec. 4th and I am waiting for confirmation that she received it before I post this.  (OK, she received it.)

KKS Stocking Stuffer

Hi Friends, I made a little stocking stuffer gum package. I used Kraftin Kimmie Stamp set "Meow-y Christmas" colored with Copics to decorate a gum package. Ever since I received this adorable stamp during my guest spot with KK I have had this idea.

I didn't cover the gum wrapper, I measured it and made a new one by scoring a strip of card stock in 4 places. Then I placed a mat on it, added a MS tag doily and my colored image. To finish it and make it easy to pull the gum out, I punched 2 circles, glued them together at the top and stapled it at the bottom.
I have decided to answer the call for a month long guest designer spot for Kraftin Kimmie Stamps, wish me luck! I so enjoyed it last time, love the design team, they are so fun and I love the stamps too.

MM138

Hi Friends, So I was a bad girl on Black Friday! I bought myself lots of discounted crafty dies and stamps. :)
This card uses a bunch of them and also items from the Simon Says Stamp December card kit.  I'm playing with many challenges in mind.

First being Merry Monday 138, using the featured colors plus one of my choosing.  I used the SSS Holiday ornaments die for a negative cut and make a shaker.  The cute little ornament hanger is die cut from some silver paper (how am I not going to lose those little things?) that comes in the December kit and some of the sequins are from the kit. I added some doodlebug white sequins too. The 2 shades of blue paper are from the kit as well.

I used detail gold embossing powder on the Hero Arts JOY stamp. Another gift to myself that I have wanted FOREVER is the stitched rectangle dies. This is Lil Inkers. I wanted MFT but they were sold out and Lil Inkers is nice too.

Oh this card caused me such fits! I had to do things many times over to make it perfect for a special person. First I had trouble cutting the ornament in the rectangle straight, then I got glue on the acetate, then I burnt the paper when embossing, had to rip the top off because I didn't have enough sequins in it. It took about an hour and a half. The good news is I learned more about shaker card and how to do it right! Good grief, Charlie Brown.

Sorry about the wordy post! Challenges I'm playing in are:

Merry Monday 138 Silver, Gold, White and "your choice" I chose Blue
The Curtain Call Clearly Christmas ( I used clear acetate)
Mojo Monday 375 Sketch
Simon Says Stamp Wed. Challenge Christmas/Holiday
Crafty Sentiments Christmas
52 C.C. Throwdown Pick your own challenge from previous challenges. I picked #18 from 6/13, Christmas Ornaments.
Paperplay Make you own embellies with diecuts. I made the shaker with dies, hope that counts.
Sweet Stamps 199 Sparkle
Monday Mood Board  Inspiration photo, gold and silver
AAA Cards  Blue Christmas! Clean and Simple only

OK, that's enough. :)

I love Elvis, by the way! LOL

MM136

Hi Friends, I made a Red, Green and White card to play in the Merry Monday 136 challenge. I used SU Happy Hour for the cute little drinks that are so festive with their holiday garnishes!
I stamped them and die cut them out with SB classic circles. The garnishes were stamped and hand cut. I layered them on a piece of ribbon on top of a panel made with K&co patterned paper. A Darice chevron EF was used as well as various card stocks.
I made a second card with some scraps and first trys for stamping. I had die cut some red scallopped squares to mat the white square but they wouldn't fit on the card. And it's even 6" wide and it still wouldn't fit. The card above is my second try. :)

CAS-ology EAT

Hi Bloggers, For weeks and weeks now, I have been intrigued by the Cas-ology one word prompts that they post each week. When I read them, I would think about what stamps I had to use for the prompts and design a card in my head but not on paper. Well, this week, I couldn't resist playing! I thought of Turkey and Thanksgiving, of course but I don't really have a use for a thanksgiving card and I need birthday cards for my stash.
Sooooooooo, I pulled out my retired Flourishes stamp set, Pinwheels and Popsicles, and colored the cake image with Copics. I added Glossy Accents to the icing roses. Then in keeping with the Case this Sketch 101, I cut a SB Lacey Circle window, layered the image behind it, and put the card together with Doodlebug paper and a Simon Says Stamp birthday sentiment. Don'tcha just love that cursive writing font?
I'm in love with this sugar-y creation. Trying to do clean and simple isn't easy for me but this may be one of the first cards that I'll mail for the price of a regular stamp!

Mojo Monday 373 Birthday

Hi Friends, I'm sharing my daughter's birthday card today made with Mojo Monday 373 sketch. I made it regular A2 size, not tall and skinny. I used MFT Birthday Sentiments stamp set and K&Co paper. I waited until the last minute to make her card so I had to come up with something simple but with some punch and I think this paper helped achieve my goal! She liked it a lot.

Other than the paper and stamps all I added was twine and enamel dots. The die is SB wonky rectangles.

KKS

Hi Friends, I ran across Bella, a Kraftin Kimmie stamp, while looking thru my stamps and thought I'd color her. Aren't the kitties adorable on this stamp? I love it. I colored her with Copics in reds and greens, then I picked the papers which is the opposite of how I usually do it. These papers are many years old so I don't know the maker. The sentiment is from another KK stamp called Meow-y Christmas.
Some other supplies used are MS punch, Stickles, PTI ribbon and enamel dots.

On another note, Tomorrow is my blog's 5 year anniversary! I plan to celebrate it after the holidays when I'm less busy.
Have a great holiday weekend, fellow cardmakers.

Penny Black Card

Hey Friends, I saw that Penny Black Saturday Challenge was having a challenge called "all wrapped up". You are to use coats, hats, scarves and gloves. I pulled out Mimi in Paris because my sister just got a poodle so I thought I'd make it into a Christmas card for her.
I colored Mimi with Copics and put her into a window cut out. I used a sketch from a few weeks ago, RetroSketches 139. I used a new Bo Bunny 6x6 paper, added a twine bow and a few sequins and called it done.

Sweet Sunday Sketch 245

Hi Friends, how are you this weekend? Getting ready for Thanksgiving? (If you live in the US). Card making-wise I am skipping right over Thanksgiving and continuing to make Holiday cards. A few weeks ago I got my SSS card kit and some other Simon Says Stamp items, I have combined the Fawn Lawn papers here with the SSS snow stencil and the Village dies. Love them! The sentiment is from the SSS stamp set that came with the kit.

I also used MS Holly punch, red pearls, MFT fishtale die, Range Texture paste, and MS tinsel glitter.
I guess I'm going to have to start using a ruler or T-square because I have been making crooked cards lately! The angle of my photo helps the eye not to notice too much that my center panel in crooked, Ugh. (I also trimmed up those ends of the 3 strips of paper!)

Some challenges for this card:

Here I just cased Yana's card. The kit comes with color photos of some ideas to use with the kit so I made this one.

SSS-Seeing Stars

Hi everyone. I gave water coloring a galaxy a try! Not sure what it supposed to look like exactly but I tried. I bought some water colors at Micheal's. Not expensive but I think they worked well (maybe Artist's Loft). I watched Dawn's video from Wplus9 but my tablet ran out of power so I had to do it from memory. It was fun! I thought of my daughter, the Art Teacher, the whole time I was painting, hoping she would approve. :).
I'm entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge "Seeing Stars" Challenge. The challenge was just the push I needed to get out the paints. Even tho I could have used stars in lots of ways, I was dying to try this (and so happy to make something other than a Christmas card).
Other than water color paint I used Hero Arts Operation Write Home stamp, white embossing powder, and SSS dark gray card stock.

Flower Tag Birthday

Hey Friends, how's it going? I'm playing in the Freshly Made Sketches 162 today. I needed a birthday card and I was inspired by a few card challenges. I liked Lynn's floral stamps arranged on a tag shown below so I pulled out my Simon Says Stamp "Favorite Flowers" and stamped them in Orange and shades of Blue. As you can see I white heat embossed the separate swirl stamps and hand cut the flowers out. Those colors were chosen to play in the Color Throwdown 318.

The sentiment is retired Flourishes, the tag die is MFT, the inks are Momento and Versifine.

MM134

Hi Friends, I have a card for the current Merry Monday Challenge 134. We are to use Gray/Silver and Blue and use an ornament! My first attempt with a different stamp set was terrible so I'm not sharing it. Then I found an old stamp set in my stash from TPC. That's where the little ornaments come from but they were on a different sentiment. I cut the ornaments off and stamped them on a Hero Arts sentiment instead. (The TPC sentiment was warped and I didn't like it). In retrospect, I should have added one more ornament to the letter T.

I use a new paper pad from Pink Paisley, Merry and Bright and added the pretty ribbon from Verve. The gray ink is SU, name unknown and the other is Momento Bahama Blue. I added and few sequins and called it done.

That's it folks! Have a great weekend. Kim

Boho Brights

Hi Friends, When I saw the Curtain Call -Boho Brights challenge, I was stumped! I thought about it for days, considering all the options to complete it. Then I ran across the Basic Grey paper pad and it hit me! It also helped that I wanted to play in the Deconstructed Sketch and the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge.

So I hope this card doesn't look like a hot mess! It will take just the right occasion to mail this to someone but I believe that occasion will happen sometime. The tag covers up the prettiest part of the print.

I used a MFT pierced tag die, SU scallop border punch, SU 1/2" circle punch, Simon Says Stamp-Thinking of you stamp and the heart from the same set, and Doodlebug twine.

SSS243 Christmas Card

Hi Friends, how are you this fine Election Day? I'm doing better. I have a card to share that was inspired by the Sweet Sunday Sketch 243 except I changed out the circle for an oval and rounded the corners.
I'm also playing in a challenge for my monthly Local Card Club. We were given a 12x12" piece of this retired Little Yellow Bicycle Christmas paper (Once upon a Christmas line)  and asked to make a card with it. One side is a cream damask and the other side, a large scale text print. I love it! And because I have to beef up my card stash I made 3 cards. I used just about every inch of the one piece of paper.

The red paper on my card is looking a little wonky, I might have corrected the color too much in the editing process!

I'll be entering these in some other challenges as well:

Merry Monday 133 Guest

Hey there Friends, Can you believe it's November? I can't. The worst part is the darkness in the afternoon now that it's Standard time.  But that's not why I'm posting. :)

I'm thrilled to be Guest Designing for Merry Monday 133. This week's challenge is "use creams, tans and browns and make a rustic card".

I'm calling mine Rustic Elegant because of the Gold Tinsel Embossing Powder. I'm happy with it even though I racked my brain to come up with a Christmas card with these colors! I'm lovin the wood grain paper! (American Crafts). Once I saw the Freshly Made sketch 160 it fell into place.

The other items I used are Bo Bunny paper (cream and tan), Oatmeal CS, PTI vellum, Hero Arts Sentiment stamp, MFT Stitched Circle Die, MFT fishtail flag die, SC wood stars.
