Power Poppy Challenge-Get Sketchy

Hi all, I'm playing in the Power Poppy Get Sketchy Challenge. I purchased a Power Poppy Digital Stamp called Gladiolas and colored it with Copics. I accidentally used non-copic paper and this was a bear to color! Blending just wouldn't work, testament to the fact that paper does matter. But the image itself is beautiful! I used the sentiment on the inside.
The colors were inspired by another Power Poppy Challenge, the color challenge. I used 3 of the colors but omitted the purple tone. This card will go to my MIL next week for her birthday.
The paper is from one of the MME paper pads from last year. Other challenge links below.

Scrappin4funchallenge-I'm in the WINNER'S CHALLENGE this week!

Hi Blog Friends, Today I'm participating in a Winner's Challenge" at Scrapping4funchallenges. Back in January, I was the random winner for the month and was asked to participate in the winners challenge for January through April 2014. I could win 3 sets of Pion Paper as the Grand Prize!

The challenge is based on the sketch below. Rachelle gave us each the sketch and asked us to create something, a card, a layout, canvas, whatever! I knew I wanted a "happy" card and knew I wanted it to be a Birthday Card because I just never seem to have enough.  So I picked up this cute Doodlebug paper "Sugar Shoppe". So cute! After looking through my stamp sets, I settled on this MFT set "Birthday Sentiments" and "More Essential Sentiments" for the X's and O's. I had the MFT "Banner Day" die set too, that I had never used. That's what I love about challenges. They make you use your stuff!

Other items I used on the card are The Twinery Bakers Twine, Various colors of MME enamel dots, sewing machine, Momento Love Letter and London Fog ink, Spellbinder dies and SU dimensionals (foam dots).

So Friends, This is a contest!!! You can vote for me by going to the Scrapping4funchallenges blog and choosing #8, that's me!!

MFT 177

Hi Bloggers, I've been debating whether to post this on my blog or not. Something about it seems a little amateur-ish. We all know every card can't be a stunner. So I'll post it anyway. Wish I had threaded the button with twine. It was late and I was tired I guess.

I followed MFT sketch challenge 177. I heat embossed the MFT lighthouse in gold EP and doodled some dashes with a gold pen. I used MFT More Essential Sentiments in Momento Paris Dusk ink on the banner shape. After hand cutting a shell from the K&Co paper I added some MS punched "coral", twine and a button. The punch is a branch punch.
Anywho, I'm sure my Uncle will like it as he recovers from surgery.

Merry Monday 109

Hi friends, I have wanted to play in the Merry Monday Challenge for weeks now and I have had too much going on. As it is, I went down to my craft room to make a get well card and this is what happened! ( I made the get well card after!) I love the Merry Monday challenge because you can use any products.

I pull out my Basic Grey Aspen Frost paper pad because I knew it had flowers on one of the papers. I figured I'd just add a Prima poinsettia and call it a day but then I looked thru my dies looking for my SB poinsettia die and found this SB Bitty Blossoms flower die. I have never been able to get a rolled flower to work out for me but I hadn't tried this one. I am thrilled with the result and I highly recommend it. I cut it from a distress solid aqua from the paper pack and inked it with VersaMagic chalk ink.  I hot glued it together and added 2 buttons in the center. I also die cut the leaves from the same set. I meant to add a contrasting circle die cut under the flower but forget in my excitement of getting the rolled flower to work.
The rest was done just following the sketch. I used a Hero Arts sentiment from Holiday Sayings stamped with Stays On Black ink, some May Arts twine, SU buttons. Don't you just the the Birch patterned paper? I do.
Thanks for visting today. Links below.

ColourQ meets Mojo Monday

Hi Crafty Friends, I'm thrilled to be sharing a trio of cards that I did for my local card club. The challenge was to use a stamp set 3 ways. When I saw this weeks ColourQ challenge 241 and the Mojo Monday 345 Challenge I thought of this Stampin Up Delicate Doily stamp set. I may have squealed at little!
I didn't have the exact SU inks but I think these will do. I used Momento Rich Cocoa, Ranger Distress Ink Peacock Feathers (love it!) and Versamagic ink similar to Pool Party.
The striped paper is MME. I used some metallic gold ribbon and gold twine from Micheals. I heat embossed the Hero Arts sentiment with Gold EP from Recollections and added a SU button.
I love this card and it's going in the mail tomorrow to my B.I.L. and his wife.

Same sketch and stamp set but this time I heat embossed with white EP on colored card stock to match my SU designer paper and added SU buttons and silver twine.

For this one you can see I water colored it. I'm so jealous of all the people taking that Online Watercolor Class that I'm seeing in the blogesphere. I heat embossed my stamps with clear EP on Ranger watercolor paper and used distress inks smooshed on a TH craft mat. I sprayed the paper first with water then I used my new SU water brushes to paint on the ink. I dried it a few times and added more color. Finally after it was dry I flicked on more water to add water marks. (by taking a wet brush and tapping on my hand to send the water drops randomly on the paper. I HAD SO MUCH FUN!

Thanks for visiting and putting up with a LONG post. Kim

KK 1st Mothers Day

Hi Peeps, I'm here today sharing my daughter's 1st Mother's Day card I made her last week. I couldn't post it until after Mother's Day cuz she reads my blog. It sure is different to have her be a Mom but she's doing very well! And I just LOVE my Grandson, Calvin!

I used the sweet "I Heart You" stamp from Rachelle Ann Miller from Kraftin Kimmie Stamps that I won several weeks ago. So cute! I used Fancy Pants paper and last week's Sweet Sunday Sketch. The only thing I did to deviate from the sketch was add the heart doily and a few sequins. I love the happy colors!

Here's a picture of my happy little guy!!! I could eat him up!

Mother's Day

Hi, Because of vacation I missed another challenge but this card still fits a few challenges for this week. I used Sweet Sunday Sketch 217 for the layout (last week's) and more of the Basic Grey Fresh Cut paper I have been using a lot of.
I used a retired Flourishes teacup stamp for the image that I hadn't used yet which was colored with Copics. I cut out the white paper with a SB die and used a 1" punch to punch the 3 circles. I then stamped MOM with an OLD, OLD alphabet stamp set, maker unknown. The other sentiment is Hero Arts stamped in Navy Momento ink. After I stitched around the perimeter and added some diecut banners and white sequins it was done.
So one down, one to go, Mother's Day cards that is! :) Thanks for stopping by.

Curtain Call-May 1 Pink and Pretty

Hey Friends, I'm back from beautiful Naples, Florida. Wow, It was nice, so sunny and warm. But...back to reality. I did miss playing with paper while I was gone.
Before I left on vacation I started this card. I used Deconstructed Sketch 147 challenge and The Card Concept #8- Umbrella challenge. I was happy that the current Curtain Call would work for this card.

This MFT Pure Innocence cutie was colored with Copics and cut out with the Out of the box Technique. I decided I need a Ray of Sunshine type of die because I struggled with the triangular part. The sentiment was punched with a Stampin Up label punch, a SU button was added with twine. Machine stitching and some SC gold sequins finish it off. Thanks for visiting!
Kim :)
