MM123 + DS166

Hi Friends, Today I have a card for Merry Monday 123 Challenge. The challenge is to add a wreath to your card. I made a wreath with a MS punch and a die cut circle. Note to self, get a wreath stamp! I used this week's Deconstructed Sketch 166. The papers on this one really steal the show. I believe most are Fancy Pants and the red background is Basis Grey. Per the sketch I added enamel dots and I added a knotted bow on the wreath from a snippet I had in my ribbon scrap jar. The Joy sentiment is MFT.

So I'm off to get this posted to the challenge and then head to the CT shore for one last beach day.

Catered Crop-Music

Hi cats and dogs, are you ready to rock the weekend? Thank goodness my kids are grown so I don't have to think of this weekend as the end of summer, I'm NOT ready!
I need to build up my stash of masculine birthday cards. I know this is a little cute-sy but my husband really liked it sooo....it passes the test.
I wanted to play in the Catered Crop Challenge "Music Expressions" and I wanted to color this A-dor-able dog illustrated by the fabulous Torico of Birdie Brown (no longer available). I got it as a freebie a year or two ago. For those of you who don't know, she designs for MFT now.

I colored the doggie with Copics, masked it, and air brushed the background. So fun! The I got out an older Basic Grey pad and made up the card using Mojo Monday Sketch 359, not the current one.
I chose those sketch because I needed a design where the circle was free to move. By that I mean I put a "action wobble" under but it was an epic fail!! It looked like a broken jack-in-the-box! So I had to stick foam dots under it to hold it down. "Frown". I really wanted my doggie to "ROCK".
The stamp is Inkadinkado wood mount from years ago.
Excuse the fuzzy photo. I took it with my phone with the last ounce of energy I had before I collapsed for the night.

Emboss Resist Engagement

Hi bloggers, I needed to make an emboss resist card for a challenge at my local card club recently. I used Momento dye inks instead of distress inks because I heard that it would work similarly, that they could be used with water. I worked pretty good but I like distress inks better.

Since I went with pastels colors, without a plan, just because I liked them, I was stumped as to what to do with the finished piece. Then I remembered I needed an engagement card for my Boss's daughter. I heat embossed a MFT Butterfly with white and die cut it and embossed a Waltzingmouse sentiment with Silver EP, both on vellum. I used a SU doily stamp for the background. The purple card stock matches the card much better than pictured IRL. I added a few white and clear sequins to finish it off.
I think the feel of my card ended up classy and elegant in style yet simple because of the lack of layers.
I'm entering in the following challenges.

Curtain Call Gus

Hey there,  I have my take on The Curtain Call Challenge-August 1, Bow Tie. I did not have a bow tie stamp or die so I used the inspiration photo for the colors, the stripes and I added a twine bow.
I colored up Gus with Copics using colors in the bow tie photo, cut it out with a SB label die and mounted on foam tape. Then added it to a rectangle to follow the sketch. Since I got some TH texture paste in the mail from Simon Says Stamp, I used it with a Heidi Swapp stencil for the background. While it was wet I sprinkled glitter on the paste. I diecut a SSS word die in black CS as part of the sentiment. I stamped a Flourishes Birthday word on the MFT banner die cut. Twine and enamel dots were added to finish it off.

This card fits several Splitcoast Stampers Dare to get Dirty Challenges.

Catered Crop Shaker

Click on the card to see the whole thing.
Hey friends! I made a shaker card for The Catered Crop. I used a Fawn Lawn Stamp and some Simple Stories 6x6 paper to make this card. I like the country feel to the card with this cute paper I've been hoarding. It's so fun to make a shaker.
I used an adorable Wild Orchid Crafts flower to accent the sweet jar stamp. For the sentiment, I cut the long stamp into pieces so I could fit it into a MFT Stitched circle die. I airbrushed the diecut but it didn't match the paper so I sponged some Scattered Straw Distress Ink around it and it looked soooo much better. I like the 2 toned look. The sequins are from Michaels or Joannes.
  Thanks for visiting today!

I'm "Glad" I have a new card to share!

Hi Bloggy friends, Yay, I have a card to share finally. I will have to keep this short because I want to make more cards to submit to Dare to get Dirty over at Splitcoast Stampers. I have several in various stages of the completion. As you can see, I used the Color Throwdown for my color choices. I wasn't sure if these colors would translate well on a floral card but I like it. Not love, but like. I do like how neat and clean it is and love the gray stripes.

The sketch is fun this week at Deconstructed Sketch. If you are a Fan club member at Splitcoast you might recognize which challenges this card fits. Oh, I used a digital stamp from Power Poppy stamps, the Gladiolas. Right now it's the only one I have.
