MM160

Hi Everyone, For Merry Monday 160, I used this great patterned paper to fulfill the challenge requirement of using "Newsprint". I also used the Freshly Made Sketch 188 to put this card together.
Spellbinder dies were used to die cut the cute PTI card stock  poinsettias which I sponged with Fired Brick Distress Ink. I layered them, adhered with Multi Matte Medium and some Doodlebug sequins and gold pearls.

The square was also die cut with a SB die to make a window. I stamped the Hero Arts sentiment with Versa Fine Black on an ivory card stock square on the inside of the card. To match the gold sequins I matted the newsprint PP on a DCWV gold foil mat. Thanks for visiting!

Card Club Challenges and SSS

Hi Friends, My local card club had some challenges in May. They were "off the page" and a one layer card. I did the partial die cutting technique with my Balloons dies from Simon Says Stamp. There are many tutorials on You Tube for partial die cutting.

I partially cut the white card stock base on the right side then die cut the balloons again with Simple Stories (the Mickey Mouse one) patterned paper and layered them.  I was going for a masculine look. I then stamped a SSS birthday balloons sentiment on the largest balloon. Some bakers twine and SC wood veneer stars finish it off. I'm submitting to the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Wed. Challenge -Anything Goes
Seize the Birthday -Anything Goes
Crafters Cafe Blog Challenge-118 -One for the boys

For this one layer card I embossed a square SB die to get the square shape on the water color paper card without cutting thru. Next I stamped the SU image in 2 colors of ink and stamped the sentiment in Versa Fine Black.

Then I masked the outside of the square with post it notes and spritzed it with green glimmer mist. A few clear sequins are added at the end. Oh, and some iridescent white twine was tied onto the top fold. Clean and simple. Oh by the way, this card is the 5th generation! I had quite a learning curve!

Take care until next time!

Lawnscaping 106

Hey Friends, I'm sending Hedgehugs today to my Sister who lost her dog last week. I thought it would be a little more lighthearted than a somber sympathy card. Also it was a great opportunity to play in the latest Lawnscaping Challenge. We are trying a new technique this time. I tried no-line coloring for the first time. My lines are still a bit visible. I guess I need practice. I used Desert Sand Momento Ink to stamp them then die cut them out. The tag die is SSS.

My colors and the fact that I used a tag on this card came from the Tag You're It Challenge. I was surprised to see how easy it is to cut a wood veneer piece with scissors. Some enamel dots finish it off. :)

Merry Monday 159

Hi Friends, Yup, another Christmas card. You know I love Merry Monday and try to play each week! This week the challenge is to use Non-Evergreen Trees. Bam, hit up that Bo Bunny pad Woodland Winter with the Birch Trees!  That's what I did!
I also used Simon Says Stamp/Clearly Besotted Stamp Set Winter Friends for a cute reindeer, colored with copics, with an adorable matching sentiment! The vellum was cut with a rectangle die from Wplus9 Sunshine Layers. Note to self: Ranger Multi Medium Matte is not good for vellum. (Thought it would dry clear)

Following the sketch I trimmed a strip of patterned paper, added a sponged SB die cut and added some sequins. Under the reindeer's glossy nose is a layer of Wink of Stella!

Curtain Call Totally Tassel

I'm playing in the Curtain Call Challenge Totally Tassel today. I used the Sweet Sunday sketch 268 also. I have been hesitating to post this all week because I can't decided if this card is pretty or a Hot Mess!!!! When I saw the inspiration photo I thought of my new Winnie and Walter set The Party , which has the fun balloon/paper lantern things with the tassels.

I used various distress inks to water color the images after I stamped and heat embossed in white. Then I die cut that panel with Lil Inkers stitched rectangle die.

Next I focused on the tag die cut with a MFT die. I stamped the present with Momento London Fog ink and again on the polka dot paper so I could paper piece the bow. I added copic marker coloring. I made a homemade tassel from bakers twine and added it to the tag. My thumb messed up my gold embossed sentiment a little, oops, hahaha. I added some white and gold sequins.

MM158 & Power Poppy

Hi all, Merry Monday 158 asks us to use a stencil. I used Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow stencil with texture paste. I used Sketch 137 to submit in the Deconstructed Sketch best of 200 Challenge but I couldn't figure out how to save the image from Flicker. The sketch looks just like my card tho!

I used a gingerbread house stamp from Power Poppy and am submitting to their Cut it Up challenge to cut out an image on your card (which I did!).  The paper is an old line from MME.
See you soon! Kim

Lawnscaping 105, Mojo Monday 396

Hi Friends, Back with another cute whimsical card for the Lawnscaping Challenge this week. The challenge is to use water coloring of any sort. Instead of doing a background with water colors, I choose to "paint" my images with Distress Inks. The gray on the unicorn is Momento London Fog because I don't have a gray D.Ink.
I used a cute pastel MME paper line for this and colored the "Critters Ever After" images to match. (These are a second and third try).
I'm dying to get my sewing machine back from the repair. I think some stitching on this card would have looked great. Inside I inked around the edges of everything with Distress Inks. Following the Mojo Monday 396 sketch, I arranged all the elements and added some hoarded SC wood veneer stars. :)

odbd tranquility

Hi Folks, Today I have a Masculine card to share. I made it for my Husband a few weeks ago and was waiting for an applicable challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs to share it. It was his birthday card but the birthday sentiment is on the inside.
As Boat owners, we experience this kind of scene quite often and it is very tranquil, coming home from any given port of call in the CT/Rhode Island waters. We call it "Dark Thirty". Not quite dark, sun going down...

To make this, I stamped the ODBD Fishing Boat image on white card stock in VersaFine Black ink, poured on clear embossing powder and heat set. Next I die cut it with a SB label die. I masked the sun with a 1" circle punch and sponged distress inks on the die cut with a TH applicator. I used Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade, Tumbled Glass and Chipped Sapphire. Next I put the card base together with Webster's pages patterned paper and card stock, cutting the clouds out with MFT flat bottom cloud die.
